Zero-Maintenance Trailer Components: IGUS Grease-Free Polymer Bushings
Joints and slides that need no greasing on our car transporters.
A car transporter has dozens of moving joints and sliding deck extensions. On STU car transporters they run on self-lubricating materials, so there are no grease points on the decks to service.

Eliminating Routine Maintenance: IGUS TX1 Fibre Bushings in Articulated Joints
Every articulated joint in the deck system turns in an IGUS TX1 fibre bushing made in Germany. TX1 is a self-lubricating polymer bearing designed for high loads: it runs dry, so the joints have no grease nipples to service and no grease film to collect road dirt and grit. Bearings in other moving assemblies come from manufacturers in Germany and Japan. The bushings are fitted to the 6-Car Transporter.

Polyamide (PA6) Sliding Sheets for Smooth Hydraulic Deck Extensions
The deck extensions slide on polyamide (PA6) sheets instead of steel-on-steel guides. PA6 has a low friction coefficient and resists wear under heavy loads, so the extensions move smoothly without lubrication. The sheets are wear parts: they are inspected at service and replaced when worn, rather than greased in between.
Total Cost of Ownership (TCO): Workshop Downtime Savings Analysis
We do not publish a single saving figure, because it depends on your service intervals and workshop rates. To estimate it for your fleet, count the grease points on the deck system of your current trailers, multiply by the minutes each takes and by how often they are greased per year, and add the hours the trailer stands in the workshop for it. With dry-running bushings and polyamide slides those deck grease points drop out of the schedule. The powerpack covers slide sideways, so the oil tank, filters and connection hub can also be reached while the trailer is still coupled to the tractor. Ask us for the service schedule of a specific model.
